ezzo Soprano, Holly Sorensen, possesses a rich, deep mezzo voice, full of color and excitement. She recently participated in Des Moines Metro Opera’s summer festival where she performed Giovanna in Rigoletto. She has participated in festivals in Chautauqua (NY), Summer Sol-Fest with the Key West Symphony (FL), and Opera in the Ozarks (AK).  Some of her operatic roles include Dorabella, in Cosi fan Tutte, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, and Second Witch and Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas. Ms. Sorensen performed the title role in Carmen with the Ardamore Chamber Opera. She was featured with the Boston Classical Orchestra as La Prima Donna in Salieri’s Prima la Musica poi le Parole and made her debut with the Bronx Opera as the Secretary in Menotti’s The Consul. Ms. Sorensen has toured with Dicapo Opera (NY), to Venice, Italy where she appeared as Mezzo Soloist in both Mozart Requiem and Vivaldi Gloria. Other oratorio engagements include; Handels Messiah with First Congregational of Old Greenwich, St. John Passion with the Ben Woodward Orchestra in CT and Manhattan; and as soloist in the Yizkor Requiem with the Greenwich Symphony.

This year, Ms. Sorensen was awarded Second Prize at the Eugene Opera National Belle Voci Competition in Oregon and Second Prize at the Classical Singer Convention Competition in New York.  She was a semi-finalist in the Oratorio Society of New York Competition, and also placed as a semi-finalist in the National Association of Teacher’s of Singing Competition.  Recently, she returned to the Bronx Opera Company where the New York Times wrote, “Holly Sorensen was a fine Sorceress,” in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas.  Upcoming performances include the role of Principessa in Adriana Lecouvreur in Houston with Opera in the Heights.
